Waste Management
In Kordsa sites, disposal, recovery and reuse of production wastes and wastewater are among our regular activities as specified by law. We dispose %100 of the wastes created at our sites through recycling, reclamation, landfill, incineration and direct disposal based on national regulation.
Our priorities include reduction of hazardous waste, increased recovery rates, and creating reuse opportunities. At all our sites, in accordance with national regulations, we segregate and record our waste based on hazardous and non-hazardous criteria.
Our Occupational Health & Safety, Environment & Sustainability Policy includes our ongoing targets regarding reduction of waste at its source, reuse or recovery of materials, and proper disposal of waste to protect human and environmental health.
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) department is responsible for coordination and implementation of waste management. Waste management targets range from strategic to individual and are evaluated by the Kordsa Performance Evaluation System.
2019 Performance
In 2019, we decreased the amount of hazardous waste by approximately 30% and non-hazardous waste by 22%. We achieved some of our waste reduction by reusing our product wastes in the production.
In 2019, we continued to efficiently use our corporate resources and also prevented environmental pollution with our ongoing projects to recover some of our materials and to reuse them in the production. We disposed 73% of the waste generated at Kordsa sites by recycling methods in 2019.
