KRATOS STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT

The Kratos Structural Reinforcement product line offered to the construction industry by Kordsa provides a convenient and high-performance solution to structural reinforcement.
Mainly, the Kratos Structural Reinforcement product line is used to reinforce structures. The reinforcement may be needed to repair a mechanical damage caused by external factors (such as earthquake, vehicle collision) or may help to prolong its service life or reinforce the structure against additional loads associated with a change in the intended use of the existing structure.

Advantages of the Structural Reinforcement System
Kratos Structural Reinforcement system may be used for a wide range of reinforcement applications independent of the surface finish. In addition to minimizing volume loss in reinforced structures, its lightweight property also provides convenient and quick applicability. The high-strength carbon fibers have a low density and thus, the additional load brought on the applied surface is negligible.
Provided that the structure has adequate mechanical strength, the use of the reinforcement products may replace steel or reinforced concrete jacketing applications and thus, minimize field losses.

Kratos Structural Reinforcement Products
The Kratos Structural Reinforcement product line consists of four products. The first product is called Kratos C-Fabric, a unidirectional woven carbon fabric made from carbon fibers with high tensile strength at the Kordsa Izmit Plant. The second product, Kratos Prime Resin, is used in combination with Kratos C-Fabric to improve rigidity and create a composite material. The third product in this category is Kratos C-Plate – produced by laminating unidirectional carbon fibers with a polymer-based epoxy resin to achieve a high elastic modulus. The last product in the product line is Kratos Adhesive, which is used to adhibit Kratos C-Plate to the application surface.

Kratos C-Fabric and Prime Resin
Kratos C-Fabric is a single-layer woven fabric formed by interconnecting the carbon fibers that run in 0˚ direction with sewing threads. Kratos C-Fabric is made from carbon fibers, one of the strongest materials known. Despite its strength, these fibers are soft as silk and can easily be mold into the desired shape. When used in combination with the special epoxy-based Kratos Prime Resin, another member of the Kratos Structural Reinforcement product line, the fabric becomes rigid. Kratos Prime Resin is a dual-component epoxy-based lamination resin specially designed for use with Kratos C-Fabric. Kratos C-Fabric, when used in combination with Kratos Prime Resin on load-bearing structural elements such as reinforced concrete columns or beams, increases the load-bearing capacity of these elements.
Kratos C-Fabric and Kratos Prime Resin are frequently used to strengthen reinforced concrete structural elements. Kratos C-Fabric is wrapped around reinforced concrete columns and partitions to increase their shear and compressive strength and improve ductility. In addition to columns and partitions, it may be wrapped around reinforced concrete beams to improve their bending and shear strength and thus, increase their load-bearing capacity.

Kratos C-Plate and Adhesive
Kratos C-Plate is a plate product with high elastic modulus that is produced by laminating unidirectional carbon fibers with polymer-based epoxy resin. Similar to the fabric, the plate is made from carbon fibers - one of the strongest materials known. Kratos C-Plate is used with Kratos Adhesive, which is specially designed to adhibit the plate to the application surface.
Kratos C-Plate and Kratos Adhesive are used to strengthen reinforced concrete beams and slabs against bending and thus, increase their load-bearing capacity. Kratos C-Plate and Kratos Adhesive play an important role in reinforcing the slabs by eliminating any weakness caused by tears in slabs that may occur afterward.
