Tire Cord Fabric: |
A modern pneumatic tire is a complicated composite construction of strong, light polymer fibers in a rubber matrix. Specialized adhesives help bond rubber and reinforcing cords into a light, doughnut-shaped composite structure.
Tire cord fabric is composed of a parallel array of cords called “warps” that are made out of synthetic industrial yarns and hold together by “weft” yarns generally made out of either rayon, cotton or cotton composite yarns. The tire body is made of layers of rubberized tire cord fabrics, or plies, that give the tire strength and flexibility.
Besides nylon and polyester, aramid, rayon and other yarn types are used in the production of tire cord fabric. Tire cord fabric production starts with twisting the yarns into single or multiple ply cords at the specified twist configurations and then these twisted cords are woven into fabric form as per the customer specifications where parallel warp cords are hold together by weft picks.
In the final dipping-treating process, greige tire cord fabric is dipped in specially formulized adhesive solutions and heat treated at optimized time, tension, and temperature conditions to impart the right adhesion, tensile and thermal properties to the tire cord fabric.
